Ted Travis is a defense and intelligence professional with over 30 years of service in the U.S. Army and Intelligence Community.

A native of Syosset, New York, Ted graduated and received his commission through St. John’s University (New York) as a Military Intelligence (MI) officer with a detail to the Armor Corps. Career highlights include assignments with the 1st Infantry Division, 10th Mountain Division, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), U.S. Army Special Operations Command, 501st MI Brigade, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Joint Special Operations Command, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, Department of the Army G-2, U.S. Army Strategy Support Element, 500th MI Brigade, U.S. Cyber Command, and the National Security Agency. Ted has led Soldiers at all levels from platoon to brigade and has deployed numerous times in support of operational missions.

His education includes a BA in Politics & Government from St. John's University, a MA in National Security & Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and a MS in Strategic Studies from the Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service, Meritorious Service, Joint Service Commendation, Army Commendation, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation, and Army Achievement medals. Ted is a recipient of the MI Corps Knowlton Award, and he holds the distinction of being a three-time SERE school graduate and the Army's first two-time Brigade Pre-Command Course graduate.

Ted was diagnosed with Stage 3C colon cancer in 2018. He and his wife, Kristin, are eager to share their personal journey starting from day-of-diagnosis to living cancer-free with the TF-7294 family through the “Not My Cancer” program.

Ted is currently Vice President for Cyber Training and AI Program Manager with By Light Professional IT Services LLC, a leading provider of cyber security and mission-critical IT solutions, headquartered in McLean, VA.
